Although there are many qualities I would look for, the greatest would be humility. Without humility, a mentor is not teachable, and is therefore, unable to adequately teach. Without humility, a mentor is proud and will have the tendancy to be condescending, judgmental, impatient and uncompassionate. Humility will allow the mentor to relate, care and respond with gentleness and love.

What is one ideal trait you could ask for in a mentor?
I think it is that "my" best interest is always in their "mentor's" heart. As a parent I believe it is my responsibility to have the best interest of my children always before me. All I do is motivated for their utmost and best at all times. I see the common theme in these responses is that of the role of the Father. I am a Father and it is my responsibility to look out for my children with their future in mind preparing them and giving them the tools and showing them the way to life's truest meaning. A life lived for our Savior, that is best.

Someone with a solid, stable connection to God that is full of joy and ready to reproduce what God has forged in their lives.
