A deep concern I have is over those who are apathetic about their walk with Jesus. Or worse, they deliberately give in to being led astray by their sinful desires, whereby distancing themselves from the fellowship of the saints. And they disregard spirital people's advice and counsel saying, "I'm alright", or, "I've got this all figured out", or, "just leave me alone". We try to warn them of Satan's deceptive schemes and what God might have to do to get their attention, but they shrug it off as if to say that they're seeing things in the proper perspective. It's frustrating when you can see something so clearly but you can't get them to see it, no matter how well you're communicating it to them. Knowing someone is being led astray and ignoring godly counsel is very troubling. And when one of those do respond to God getting their attention and they return, we need to have the attitude of the forgiving father with his prodigal son instead of the, 'I told you so, you deserve it' attitude.

What keeps me up at night? Conflict where people refuse to acknowledge the pastor's authority in spiritual areas of the church and want to run it their own way. Confronting and dealing with the hatred that comes from that keeps me up at night.

As Pat has stated, in my church we've had a group of people with deep authority issues. Since our Pastor stood his ground and put them on notice of why God had sent him there it has been a battle. I can agree that we've found a hatred which seems like Satan sent an army to the forfront hands down. Pat I don't know you but I'll keep you in prayer.

Welcome and invite! How quickly we forget our first calling. A community doesn't need to age long to stray from this priority. Maybe it's like marriage in that we must learn to continue to love after the "in love" experience has worn off. Just like learning how to say "I love you" in the language and dialect of our spouse, we need to learn how to say"You are welcome here" in the language and dialect of the people around us. Both are day-in and day-out works where small steps repeated over time will yield wonderful results.
