What's the first thing I should do when a crisis happens?

I like the responses so far, of course pray, then start some positive actions if possible. It usually helps to put some amount of space between you and the crisis, if even just for a few seconds as a reality check. Access if it is your crisis or someone elses, this is critical for clear thinking. Is it really a crisis or a super inconvienence. whose life is at risk. Identify the real problem, Take a step toward a solution even a small one. Ask for help from someone who truely can help. We prolong crisises sometimes by asking for help from the wrong people.

I agree - pray. But immediately after praying, it's vital to assess the most important need facing the person in crisis. Is it protection? (As in the situation of an abusive spouse). Is it information? (As in the situation of a person who has just discovered that his/her spouse is using drugs.)
