This is good. I, too, value the research you've done to find out what commonalities these ministries have. So many times we have abstract ideas about why what we do works, but this spells out the reasons for their success. I love the idea of mentorship and service. These are two things I didn't expect to see that young people would find attractive. But it makes sense that if they want to connect and belong giving them an opportunity to serve with others would be important to them. I personally love the idea of mentorship particularly from older to younger because the Bible says the older (women) should teach the younger. Their wisdom and experience is invaluable. I remember the ministers in my church taking us under their wings and this was very important to me as a teen. I'm just excited to see that this is something that other young people actually value and hopefully they engage in a respectful relationship. Thanks for sharing, I'll also be passing this insight on to my Pastors.

When I was a young Christian one of the things that attracted me and caused me to become a member of the Baptist Church to which I still belong was an emphasis on sound, practical, bible teaching. Maybe I missed it, but this does not seem to be on your list for "effectively reaching young adults.

Great information, I value information that is based on research. I will be sharing this with ministry leaders in my church. Thanks for sharing with us.

I think cross-generational relationships are vital (as well as being biblical). In our as yet limited experience, we now have students seeking out our church precisely because it is not a 'student church'.

I would guess that students are less interested in cross generational ministry, but more interested in mentorship being provided from any age bracket that challenges them to live life to their fullest potential in Jesus Christ. It will be interesting to read the full chapter, but I'm guessing it's a challenging mentorship that they appreciate, not the fact that it happens to be cross generational...
