Overview

Adapting children's ministry to preschoolers presents several unique challenges—cleanliness, safety, and age-appropriate activities, just to name a few. The leaders of Willow Creek Community Church's Promiseland ministry have faced these challenges for years and have helped other ministries overcome them. You too can overcome the challenges of preschool ministry with some practical guidance from the experienced leaders at Promiseland.

This tool is adapted from '"The Unique Challenges of Leading a Preschool Ministry” and '"Effective Ways to Lead An Early Childhood Ministry," a PromiseLand Conference workshop by Beth Bauer, Andrea Minor, and Kristin Smith. PromiseLand is a ministry of the Willow Creek Association.

This Training Pack contains all of the following:

Programs at a Preschool Level
Your curriculum, format, and volunteers need to be tailored to fit a preschool audience.

Inspiring Volunteers to Serve with Joy Instead of Obligation
Make “It’s your turn to serve in preschool” a good thing.

Safe and Clean: How Much Is Enough?
Practical steps and policies are your best safeguards.

Ministering to Tots and Their Parents
Effective preschool ministry doesn’t target one or the other, but both.

How Do You Handle Misbehavior?
Manage unruly preschoolers by working with parents.
