Overview

Children can participate in drama ministry as soon as they can read their lines. Starting children this young not only gives them the chance to participate in church from an early age but also opens opportunities for children with gifts in the worship arts to '"fan into flame” those gifts from God (2 Tim. 1:6).

This tool is adapted from '"Drama in Children's Ministry,” '"Developing a Drama Team,” Directing a Drama Sketch,” and '"Drama Workshops for Kids,” PromiseLand Conference workshops by Deanna Armentrout, Kathy Sanford, and Jill Tweeten. PromiseLand is a ministry of the Willow Creek Association.

This Training Pack contains all of the following:

The Fundamentals of Children’s Drama
On stage, do not forget the real reasons you’re there.

Building the Drama Team
Encouraging and identifying young actors can be done in the same fun step.

Providing Direction
The director is not the mastermind but the facilitator of dramatic creativity.

Exercises and Activities for Fun and Training
These exercises may seem fit only for children, but they can help actors of any age.
