Overview

When a child first enters your church, what is her experience? Does she sit bored and wait because her family arrived early? Is she rushed into an activity because her family arrived late? Those first moments following check-in need not be goof-off, wasted, or worry time. By implementing an activity station strategy, a child's first moments in the door can be filled with excitement and intentional ministry opportunities.

This tool is adapted from '"Activity Stations: Play with Purpose,”a PromiseLand Conference workshop by Sheri Butler, Barb deWaard, Judy Williams, and Eileen Wright. PromiseLand is a ministry of the Willow Creek Association.

This Training Pack contains all of the following:

The Vision and Values of Activity Stations
Why an early, active start to your children’s ministry may boost your ability to minister.

Goals and Expectations You’ll Need for Success
Making activity stations work requires clearly-defined parameters.

Activity Time as Modeling Time
The values you model in activity time set a precedent for the church’s future members.

Practically Putting It Together
Tables, toys, games, crafts—how do you do it? Organization.
