John serves as chair and professor of the Department of Pastoral Studies at the Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, Illinois. He has been a member of the faculty since 1994. Prior to joining the faculty, he served as pastor of Valley Chapel in Green Valley, Illinois, for nine years. John is the author of several books, including A Stranger in the House of God (Zondervan) and True Discipleship (Moody).
John has a Doctor of Ministry degree from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School; a Master of Divinity from Biblical Theological Seminary; and a Bachelor of Arts from Wayne State University. He and his wife Jane have two sons and live in Munster, Indiana.
